Curriculum
MINT realizes the importance of good curriculum as the basis of language proficiency. To achieve our objectives in delivering quality education, we prescribe two basic curriculum tracks.
First Time Learner
Young children will mainly focus on basic Mandarin introduction, allowing them to get to know the language according to their own learning ability. Lessons will be given in a playful ambience as well as hands-on activities, so they will enjoy the process while at the same time learn new things. Once students develop their interests in Mandarin, it will be easier to prepare them for the next step of learning.
School Children
For children taking Mandarin as a subject at international schools, MINT's syllabus is designed to complement the school's program in order to optimize study result. Independently, MINT's curriculum drives children to master the language within a definitive timeline. Supported with carefully designed supplementary materials, we believe MINT offers the ideal environment for Mandarin fun learning.
To help students learning Mandarin, MINT delivers the material through the following instruments:
•
Textbooks
Our textbooks will supplement those used in the international schools. Additionally, we will also use other exercise books to complement the lessons learned at school. The materials are adjusted to accommodate the differing phases of language education throughout the course period at MINT.
•
Flash Cards
Emphasizing on visual attractiveness for children, flash cards show colorful pictures and matching words. Children will enjoy seeing the cards while being introduced to new words and trained to memorize them.
•
Chinese Puzzles
Chinese puzzles are effective learning tool for children that challenge them to match pictures with Chinese characters. These teaching tools are useful to train and review new vocabulary, phrases and even simple sentences with the help of visual means.
•
Audio CDs
Audio CDs are used during the lessons, in order to introduce Chinese songs to students, while at the same time to train their listening skills.
•
Interactive Software
Multimedia technology could introduce Mandarin through the use of characters, stories, and moving pictures complete with sound and music. Mandarin software could also provide context of language use which sometimes lacking in other material.
